NIE Tarragona the forms, the fee and the cita previa, put in order for you

Why the number comes first

Every plan in Tarragona starts with the same number

Tarragona has taken in newcomers since Tarraco governed a Roman province, and the habit has lasted. Hotel and theme-park crews arrive each spring along the Costa Daurada, process engineers join the chemical plants around the city, researchers and students come for the Universitat Rovira i Virgili, and families swap a colder winter for a flat within sight of the sea. Most of them are asked for the same thing in their first weeks: a NIE, before the contract, the lease or the bank account can go ahead.

The Policía Nacional issues the number at a single appointment. Whether that appointment succeeds depends on what precedes it: choosing the EX form your case calls for, paying the 790-012 fee under the proper heading, a slot found in the booking system, and a visit to the station whose area includes your town. That groundwork is the part we take on with you.

Procedures

Choose by passport, then by situation

Each page sets out the form, the papers, the fee and the station for one case, with what changes around Tarragona.

Passports of the EU, EEA and Switzerland

III procedures
  • The NIE number (EX-15)

What the number is, who around Tarragona gets asked for it, and how an EX-15 file reaches the counter complete.

  • NIE for a season on the coast

Hotels, campsites and the theme parks recruit by the season: which request suits a contract of a few months.

Passports from beyond the EU

V procedures
  • TIE card and fingerprints (EX-17)

The huellas appointment that turns a granted permit, or a long-stay visa, into a plastic residence card.

  • Family of an EU citizen (EX-19)

Husband, wife, partner, child or parent from outside the EU, joining a European relative who lives in the province.

  • Students and researchers at the URV

Enrolled at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili or arriving to join a lab: NIE, green certificate or student TIE.

  • UK nationals after Brexit

Withdrawal Agreement residents, newcomers and holiday-flat owners: what a British passport now means in the province.

  • Engineers and staff on assignment

Joining a plant, the port or one of their contractors: in which order the permit, the NIE and the card arrive.

Province and practicalities

III procedures
  • NIE for buying a home

A flat in Salou, a house in Altafulla: no deed, mortgage or purchase tax can go ahead without the buyer’s number.

  • The 790-012 fee, step by step

The fee form behind every police procedure for foreigners: which heading to tick, how to pay, which copy to keep.

The method

Four stages, from first message to the counter

  1. Tell us where you stand

A short form: passport, town, and the reason the number is needed. From those three answers we name your procedure and the station of your comarca.

  2. The file, assembled

We fill in whichever EX form fits, prepare the 790-012 under its proper heading and list the supporting papers, so you only gather what concerns you.

  3. A date at the right station

We search the booking system at the station your comarca points to, then send the confirmation with a checklist for the morning itself.

  4. At the counter

You arrive with originals and photocopies in order. Should the officer ask for something unforeseen, we work out the next move with you.

Four stages, one file, the right station.

The province

Extranjería in Tarragona: three stations, one map of comarcas

Three Policía Nacional stations deal with the NIE in the province. By comarca, according to the Delegación del Gobierno, the Brigada Provincial at Plaça d’Orleans covers the Tarragonès, Alt Camp, Baix Penedès and Conca de Barberà; Reus covers the Baix Camp, Priorat and Ribera d’Ebre; and Tortosa covers the Baix Ebre, Montsià and Terra Alta. Residence permits belong to another desk, the Oficina de Extranjería on Avenida Estanislau Figueras. The padró, the town-hall registration many procedures ask to see, is done at the OMAC offices of the Ajuntament.

No official source we found gives a bus line or stop for the three stations, so this site prints none: check the address on a map before the day.

The four pillars of our work

  • The province, comarca by comarca

We begin with your address, since that settles the station: Plaça d’Orleans, Reus or Tortosa.

  • Facts with their sources

Offices, opening times and documents are taken from the Policía Nacional, the Delegación del Gobierno or the Ajuntament, and the page is linked.

  • Every step in writing

Each step reaches you by email, ready to check, to forward to an employer or to carry to the counter.

  • Independent, and open about it

A private service, not the administration: we prepare and accompany, and the decision stays with the police.

When the number is asked for

The moments a NIE is needed here

  • Signing a season contract with a hotel, a campsite or a theme park
  • Joining a plant, the port or a contractor as an engineer or technician
  • Enrolling at the URV or starting a research stay
  • Buying a flat in Salou, Cambrils or the Part Alta
  • Opening a Spanish bank account for wages or a mortgage
  • Renting long term and putting the electricity and water in your name
  • Registering as self-employed
  • Joining a partner who already lives in the province

Beyond the number

Two partner services for the rest of the move

The NIE is one errand among many when you settle in Tarragona. These two services take care of what surrounds it.

Queries

Short answers, before you write

Where is the NIE requested in Tarragona?

At a Policía Nacional station, by appointment. By comarca, according to the Delegación del Gobierno, the Brigada Provincial on Plaça d’Orleans covers the Tarragonès, Alt Camp, Baix Penedès and Conca de Barberà, while Reus and Tortosa cover the remainder of the province.

Cita previa NIE Tarragona: how does booking work?

Online and free, through the appointments page of the State’s sede electrónica: select the province of Tarragona, the police procedure that fits, and the station of your comarca when one is offered. Keep the confirmation for the day.

What goes in my folder for the appointment?

The form for your procedure (EX-15 for the number, EX-18 for European residents, EX-17 for a TIE), passport and photocopy, the paper justifying the request, and the Modelo 790 código 012, paid.

Does the Oficina de Extranjería issue the NIE?

No. That office, on Avenida Estanislau Figueras, rules on residence authorisations. NIE, green certificate and TIE are handled at the police station.

Huellas TIE Tarragona: where are prints taken?

At those same three stations, Plaça d’Orleans, Reus or Tortosa, once a fingerprint appointment is booked.

Should I register on the padró?

Plenty of procedures after the NIE ask for a padró certificate, so register once you have an address. Tarragona city does it at its OMAC offices; other towns register you at their own ajuntament.

Are you the police or a public office?

Neither. We are a private, independent service preparing files and finding appointments; the procedures themselves belong to the administration.
